The current environment of the content and entertainment industry is more competitive than ever, so companies seek to strengthen their processes through technology in order to remain competitive. 

This television company is one of the largest entertainment and content companies with the greatest international influence, as it competes with producers and distributors of content from all over the world. 

It has also established itself as a global distributor of content for several decades, strengthening its fan base beyond Mexico and the United States. 

During 2018, this television station exported approximately 83,000 hours of original programming to more than 75 countries. In the same year, it obtained the renewal of the concession titles of open television signals for a term of 20 years. 

Faced with such growth, the company required financial solutions to help it implement platforms that would integrate the process of evaluation, purchase and storage of digital assets.

Technological challenges

The company required a new, more secure, scalable and reliable digital asset management system. At the same time, it needed a platform that would integrate the entire evaluation, purchasing and storage process. This new methodology would strengthen each area in security, data backups, audit processes, user activity, performance, high availability and traceability.

With this management system, the company would achieve the agility required to complete the entire process, from the acquisition of a new digital asset to the preview of a new production or sale. This platform registers, manages, controls and tracks all assets in this area: novels, series, scripts and others.

The television station chose Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides services that allow us to develop scalable, low-cost and highly reliable solutions for a cloud platform infrastructure. 

AWS Lambda 

This entertainment company needed to cover an essential requirement such as a reliable and scalable system, so AWS Lambda was the best choice for this purpose due to its serverless approach and allows to manage a consistent performance scaled continuously with integrated fault tolerance, which favors maintaining high availability.

Results and benefits

Currently the platform supports and manages: 3,000 works, 400,000 brochures, 3,000 images, 9,000 complementary files and 4,500 to 5,000 videos with a weight ranging between 15MB and 5GB per video

This platform allowed the client to digitize its productions, which are its most important asset, in addition to facilitating the worldwide commercialization of the productions and complying with the demanding requirements of auditing and control of all the productions in its collection.
